Mary Carol Sullivan, BFA, HICAT

I hold a BFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University and a Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy (HICAT) Practitioner Certificate from Mind Body Education, a internationally recognized training program for holistic practitioners.
I have been a painter and graphic designer by profession, creating my entire life while logging nearly 40 years of professional marketing experience. In my search for a more meaningful, heart-centered career, I discovered HICAT. Facilitating science-based practices and hands-on creativity offers an empowering, respectful, and highly effective way for my clients to overcome challenges. I am passionate about using creative modalities, such as art, dance, sculpture, drama, music, sound therapy, storytelling, meditation, and holistic counseling, to guide others in recognizing and overcoming trauma, limiting belief structures, fears, life challenges and changes, and behavioral patterns that keep them stuck.
Art and Identity Merge…
My mother worked as a surgical nurse, often picking me up late from the Catholic Montessori School I attended, long after the other children had gone home. While my school days encouraged creative thinking and self-motivation, it was during those late afternoons that I truly found my passion, under the care of a very kind nun. Together, we would spend the afternoons coloring and creating, waiting for my mother. Freed from the rules and expectations of the classroom, this is where my love for art and my sense of identity first began to intertwine. I enjoyed the feel of crayons in my hand, racing across blank pages, unconsciously unlocking wonders. I felt safe and could create make-believe worlds as I navigated and expressed my own.
